I bought the Detroit News today for the headline "Homeland Security Gaps Plague Metro Detroit " but was more interested in seeing what's going on in town. Belle and Sebastian are playing on the 7th! The State Theater will fill again with denim-clad emo kids. And Rick Prelinger is giving a talk Monday night at the DIA. And there are lots of movies for me to see. So it's good to be back.

Home from training. Radio silence may now be broken.

I had a good time. The program was excellent, topical entries to follow.

It was sad parting from my classmates. I hung out at the airport with some of them until their boarding times were called, then I took shuttle to the motel I'd booked. Some were surprised I stayed, but who wants to sit alone in a hotel room?

I come back to a new nephew, Alex. His dad has returned safely from Iraq/Kuwait.

The family ate lunch at Bob Evans. Dad ran me over to Gorno's (Ford dealership) to pick up info on vehicles, as I need wheels soon. I went with my sister to pick Trent up from daycare. He ran past me to her with barely a glance. Then he came and hugged my leg. He's a pirate this Halloween. Alex will be a pumpkin, as many newborns are.

I stopped by work to say hello and pick up goods that were sent there.
